For freelancers
Freelancer working terms
These terms describe how engineers join the VoltLancer network, how matching and trials work, and what we expect from you professionally. Version 2026-07-freelancer-v1.
You keep 100% of your earnings
VoltLancer charges 0% commission on your project income. The monthly subscription that funds the platform is paid entirely by the client and is never deducted from what you invoice.
1. Joining and vetting
- Register as an individual engineer or as a company (engineering firm or team)
- Complete your detailed profile: specialisation, tools, experience and portfolio evidence
- Pass a technical assessment or portfolio review by a domain specialist
- Provide accurate identity and, for companies, valid registration details
2. Matching and trial periods
Advisors hand-match you to briefs that fit your specialisation. Engagements typically start with a trial of up to two weeks so the client can evaluate fit. Agree the trial scope, deliverables, duration and any compensation in writing with the client before you begin. A client may evaluate up to three candidates for one role.
3. Professional conduct
- Only claim skills, tools and certifications you can demonstrate
- Respond to matched clients within two business days
- Meet agreed deadlines or communicate slippage early
- Respect client confidentiality, NDAs and intellectual property
- Never publish client designs, data or documents without written permission
4. Invoicing and payments
You contract and invoice the client directly. VoltLancer does not hold funds, does not process project payments and is not a party to your agreement. You are responsible for your own taxes, social contributions and any local licensing requirements.
5. Optional plans
Optional freelancer plans exist purely for platform features — extra proposal credits, more portfolio slots, a verified badge and higher visibility. They are never a commission on your work. See pricing.
6. Ratings, reviews and account status
Clients and freelancers review each other after an engagement. Repeated non-delivery, misrepresentation of skills, off-platform circumvention of agreed terms, or abusive conduct may lead to suspension or removal from the network.
