Terms of Service

This page is maintained by the VoltLancer team as a plain-language summary of the rules for using the platform. It is a starting template — before using VoltLancer for a real business, please have a lawyer review and tailor these terms for your jurisdiction.

1. Who we are

VoltLancer ("we", "us") operates an online marketplace that connects clients with independent electrical, electronics, and embedded engineering freelancers. We are not a party to the engineering contracts entered into between clients and freelancers.

2. Accounts and eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to use VoltLancer. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for all activity that happens under your account. You agree to provide accurate information when signing up and to keep it up to date.

3. Freelancer services and gigs

Freelancers may list services ("gigs") describing what they will deliver, in what timeframe, and for what price. Freelancers are responsible for the accuracy of their listings, for delivering work as described, and for holding any professional certifications or licenses required by law where they operate.

4. Orders, payment, and platform role

VoltLancer is a discovery and communication platform only. Any payment for a project, quality of the delivered work, contractual terms, and financial disputes are strictly between the client and the freelancer. VoltLancer is not a party to those agreements and holds no funds.

Until December 31, 2026, VoltLancer charges 0% commission from clients and freelancers. Freelancers may optionally purchase plan features (extra monthly proposals, verified badge, higher visibility) — see the Pricing page.

5. Intellectual property

Unless otherwise agreed in writing between client and freelancer, ownership of the final deliverables transfers to the client upon full payment. Freelancers keep the right to use general skills, know-how, and non-confidential techniques for future work. Portfolio content on VoltLancer remains the property of the freelancer who posted it.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to use VoltLancer to: post unlawful, misleading, or infringing content; harass other users; upload malware; attempt to bypass security controls; or solicit users off-platform to avoid fees. We may suspend or remove accounts that violate these rules.

7. Content and files

You keep ownership of the content you upload, but you grant VoltLancer a limited license to host, transmit, and display it as needed to operate the platform. Do not upload files you do not have the right to share.

8. Disclaimers

VoltLancer is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. Engineering work involves real-world risk; clients are responsible for their own testing, verification, and regulatory compliance before deploying any design or firmware supplied through the platform.

9. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, VoltLancer will not be liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the platform. Our total liability related to your use of VoltLancer is limited to the fees you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.

10. Termination

You can stop using VoltLancer at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that break these terms or create risk for other users. Some provisions (IP, disclaimers, liability limits) survive termination.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as VoltLancer evolves. Material changes will be announced on the site. Continued use after an update means you accept the new terms.
